The fifth annual Young Stationers’ Prize is now open for entries.
The prize, run by the Worshipful Company of Stationers and Newspaper Makers, the 47th Livery Company of the City of London, sets out to recognise outstanding talent and achievement among those under 40 across a range of qualifying professions and sectors across the communications and content industries.
Open to members of the Stationers and non-members alike, anyone under the age of 40 is invited apply to one of the five industry sector Awards.
The overall Prize winner will be selected from the winners of the five Awards, on the basis of their career success, contribution to the sector in which they are working, or broader achievements in interesting ways which are relevant to the ethos and trades of the Stationers’ Company.
Nominations or applications from all of the Stationers’ trades are eligible, categorised as follows:
• Print, Paper, and Packaging;
• Journalism and Communications (including media, public relations, and authorship);
• Office Products and Supplies;
• Publishing, Digital, and Design (including, social media, digital marketing);
• Books and Archiving (including libraries, CRM, and copyright).
Past winners of the Young Stationers’ Prize are: Ian Buckley, managing director of Prima Software; Ella Kahn and Bryony Woods, founders of Diamond Kahn & Woods Literary Agency; Angela Clarke, novelist, playwright, and columnist; and Katie Glass, of the Sunday Times.
Dominic Graham, chairman of the Young Stationers, says: “We have added the five sector Awards to make the Prize more inclusive, and representative of the breadth of trades within the Company. These will enable us to recognise and celebrate more of the incredible young talent within our industries.”
How to enter
Applications should be sent by email to firstname.lastname@example.org. We welcome both nominations or self-nominations for these awards. Applications should clearly indicate the Award for which they are applying and should include: a brief CV; a short statement by the nominator (or personal statement); and at least one additional letter of reference. They can also submit any supporting materials or specimens of work which they believe will strengthen their application. Candidates can also elect to send their application by post to Young Stationers’ Prize, c/o Stationers' Hall, Ave Maria Lane, London EC4M 7DD. If doing so, please also send an email notification to email@example.com to ensure it is received. The deadline for applications is Friday, 15 June 2018. The winners will be announced at the Young Stationers’ Annual Dinner, on Monday, 16 July 2018. The shortlist will be announced in the preceding weeks.
